Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Jonathan and I lead enterprise sales at Sourcegraph and have been building iOS apps for the better part of a decade. Strata is my seventh (7x) app, and it came from a frustration I couldn't stop noticing. I kept doing the same thing on my phone: typing in iMessage, switching to ChatGPT, waiting, copying, switching back, pasting. For something that should take 5 seconds, it was taking 30. Every. Single. Time. Over Christmas break I thought to myself (actually it was my wife's idea) why isn't the AI just inside the keyboard? If it lived within the keyboard container, it could be leveraged across any app. So I built it. What surprised me during the build was how much the keyboard itself mattered. I didn't want a prompt box floating above Apple's keyboard. I wanted something that felt native, similar to how the ChatGPT iOS app feels like it was build by Apple... so I built a full custom keyboard from scratch with swipe typing, haptics, and sound feedback. It feels like an iOS keyboard, not a chatbot. A few things I'm proud of: • Strata saves your conversation per app. Simply pick up where you left off in Slack without losing your iMessage thread • You can dictate your prompts through Siri and Strata captures them automatically • When the AI gives you multiple options, each one has its own insert button... just pick the one you want and it drops right in I'd love to hear how you'd use something like this.
