Really nice! My wife and I always complain that no one's made a really simple exercise app for our TV devices yet. On that note: any other platforms coming? Chromecast? Fire TV?
@clarklab We're looking at making an iPhone and iPad version, since I think there will be some cool integrations we can do between the phone and TV. Still just prototyping ideas at this stage!
@soumitrasen it shows how to do them (the stick men animate), and it records basic statistics. We're working on a update that allows multiple user profiles, so stats and exercises can be set up separately for different people (or you could use the profiles to target specific body areas).
Woah, that Apple TV style angling button at the bottom of your site is super cool. Did you create that yourselves?
And I'll definitely check out the app as well when I get home, looks great! How do your workouts compare to the 7min workout? Been doing that for a while and it has been awesome. Not sure if Apple TV lets you support it yet or not but Health Kit integration is always a nice plus for apps like this.
@michael_one Thanks! The JavaScript to create that button was actually on ProductHunt last week: https://github.com/drewwilson/at...
We looked at 7 min workout style workouts but the genesis of this idea is more so a "prison" type workout: not much space, no equipment (and no timer).
The exercises are chosen randomly (but they are weighted towards certain reps). It makes it far more interesting in my opinion, as you don't know what's coming up next, so it adds a level of excitement and removes the element of dread.
Plus our shortest workout is about 6 minutes (the length varies depending on which exercises are chosen and how quickly you do them: it's rep-based, not timer-based).
Just purchased this yesterday and did my first workout with it. Here are a few observations
1. Clicking the remote after every exercise became pretty annoying (maybe have a timed option)?
2. Although the exercises were random it did not take me through every exercise I selected (only got 6-10)
3. Really like the interface and seems to have a lot of potential!
Suggestions (not sure if these are possible)
1. Apple watch integration (maybe display heart rate on screen)
2. Multiple profiles, possibly hookup to Apple watch with multiple people working out at once and displaying some data
@shanerjeffers Thanks for the feedback Shane, really appreciate it.
1) This is deliberate, so people can go at their own pace.
2) Very good point. We're working on an update now, and we're going to make it clearer that each workout only uses up to 6 randomly chosen exercises
Definitely agree on the Apple Watch integration. I haven't figured out how to access the heart rate in this manner but agree it'd be cool. We're planning an iOS version also so there will likely be watch options available.
Multiple profiles: This is coming in the next update (likely late next week)
@hendx@shanerjeffers Glad to help. I still think that most people are going to not like tapping the remote after each set of reps. Some of the reps are quick (3 push ups for example) I find myself exhausted feeling around for a tiny remote. Anyway, thanks for the great software.
@danielkempe the current exercise animates to demonstrate how it's done. One of the things I didn't like about other exercise apps are the extensive descriptions and videos that get in the way. We knew the animations were the way to go when @isaacforman's 3 year old son started doing the exercises during beta without any prompting.
