Hey - thanks for checking out summarize.tech. This is a little app I built over the past few weekends that summarizes long-form YouTube videos. I find it really useful for staying up-to-date with what's happening with my town government, and rapidly deciding whether a long tech talk is worth watching on YouTube. This was built on top of OpenAI's GPT-3 (and the logo was drawn by its cousin, DALL-E). Other tools I used include Gitpod, Next.js, Firebase Auth, Dagster, MySQL and React-Bootstrap. Someday I'll probably clean up the code and open-source this. Right now it's pretty barebones. In the future I hope to add some additional features, like an embedded player and neural text-to-speech to create short podcasts from the long-form video. There is a paid version for $10/mo. This is mostly to offset the cost of the GPT-3 API, which can be significant. Do you have any ideas for new features? Find any bugs? Let me know!

Great tool! This link: https://www.summarize.tech/www.y... Particularly this part: "In the video, a doctor is asked various questions about medical topics. He gives long-winded, unhelpful answers to all of the questions. He does not seem to have a good understanding of the topics he is discussing." really does raise a lot of questions for me though hahaha

This is an amazing tool, looking forward to using it. Many of the summaries begin with some variation of "in this video/summary/excerpt.."--feels redundant and could be pulled out for succinctness.

Hey @floydophone ended up using it for a few 1hr+ podcast, quite a neat tool to get a summary of what the conversation is about! As I can see it summarizes the thing spoken about in 15min modules, would be cool to add a feature to dive deeper into a specific subtopic (which can show a full transcript or a summary, whatever is easier) Love the product!

@superspookyuser yeah. there is rate limiting though which is controlling some costs. i'll definitely lose money on this today but i am curious to observe how people use it and if they're willing to pay eventually
