Summit - live news, live views: A cool, alternative, news digest app

Hello PH guys, My name is Jermaine Ijieh and I am one of the founders of an app called, Summit that is aiming to bridge the gap between those disengaged with the political climate in their country by making the news fun. Users can leave one-time snap videos of their opinion on each article which can be viewed, upvoted or downvoted by fellow users. The most upvoted video comments ‘reach the summit’ and represent the popular opinions of the day. Clean lists are nice but we wanted to try and do something cool and present the news in a more gamified way. A lot of news apps have slick UI’s but ultimately they all feel really similar, especially those that collate their news from various sources and have no real genuine voice. We wanted to add a social element to the news and empower users to have their say among like-minded people. Our editorial team curate and write in a colloquial way that people can inherently relate to. News is cleverly categorised across a 3D mountain, with the most breaking news coming from the summit down. Meaning users can seamlessly scroll around the mountain and expose themselves to topics they may not normally engage with.
