About a month ago, I launched a startup in 24 hours and live streamed the whole thing on Twitch. I hit #1 on Product Hunt and #1 on Show HN.
I wanted to take it a step further and create the 24 Hour Startup Challenge to help others do the same thing:
☝️ One day.
💪 50 startups.
🌍 A globally streamed event.
🤑 Cash Prizes.
Say what you want about building a product in 24 hours, but I think it's a great way to:
- Get your idea out there & drop your ego
- Just build something & have fun!
- Exercise your programming and product building skills
- Build your audience.
What's also cool is, for spectators, will be able to see all the startups being built in ONE place, shipstreams.com by @arminulrich and @_feloidea who are helping build this. You can watch dozens of ideas unfolding before your eyes.
We're really excited for this!!
@arminulrich@_feloidea@thepatwalls Does the product need to be digital? I have an idea, but the live stream would be like 90% me marketing and doing sales. Not coding. Is that allowed? 😉
Also when you mean build a startup you mean hard coding it? Or can it be making a landing page, concept + send e-mails, launching it somewhere etc? Is it focused on programming an actual web/mobile app?
@iamsooraj Right now it's just for starting from scratch (to be fair to other participants re: prize money). Why don't you launch something fun that might drive signups to your main product? (i.e. side project marketing)
@illya_online I think it's all about the community. There's something very cool about staying up all night shipping a project from scratch while 100 people around the world are doing the same thing alongside you. But you could always stream something beforehand to get ready 😜

Any thoughts on adding a resources section where people can see how you went about your way and direction of doing it (Granted every startup is different) but highlighting one success may be helpful for 50+ others!
@tabish_gilani Yes, if you sign up I'm planning lots of communication and reading like "how to have a successful stream", "how to market your stream", etc.
And we're going to create a chat as well so you can hang out with all the other participants.

Super cool. The motivation gained by working in a setting like this is valuable. It will result in some new great start ups and it will change some lives.
