Why I’m Suddenly So Excited About AI-Generated Games (And Curious If Anyone Else Feels the Same)
Over the last few months, I’ve been noticing a strange shift in gaming — not from players, but from creators.
For years, the “game creation pipeline” was fixed:
big teams → long cycles → expensive assets → predictable gameplay loops.
But now I’m seeing solo creators — even people with zero dev background — making full mini-games using AI tools.
Some are messy, some surprisingly fun, and some feel like the early days of YouTube when people were just trying things.
And honestly… I haven’t been this excited about gaming in a long time.
Here are a few things I keep thinking about:
1️⃣ AI lets people prototype game ideas in hours, not months
I’ve seen players generate characters, levels, music loops, story quests… sometimes within the same afternoon.
This speed feels like a breakthrough similar to early Flash games.
2️⃣ Games might become as personal as playlists
Instead of “playing what studios produce,” players can start crafting small experiences for friends, communities, or even themselves.
Imagine micro-games created for inside jokes, birthdays, fandoms, Discord groups, etc.
3️⃣ Traditional gameplay formulas can finally be broken
Because AI removes some production pressure, creators can experiment with weird mechanics without worrying about commercial failure.
4️⃣ But… this also raises real questions
This part is why I’m posting here — I genuinely want to hear from founders, builders, and AI tool creators.
When everything can be generated, what makes a game feel “human” again?
Will players adopt AI-generated games the same way they adopted AI art or AI writing?
Where should the line be between “AI assists creativity” vs “AI becomes the entire creation”?
Do you think AI-generated games can ever reach mainstream quality?
Why I’m asking
I’m experimenting in this space myself — building an ad-free browser gaming platform where people can play instantly across devices.
Recently, we also started testing an AI Game Creator so players can generate their own mini-games.
Not pitching anything here — just curious how others in the PH community think about the future of AI-generated gameplay, especially as more tools emerge.
Genuinely curious:
👉 Are you excited about AI-generated games?
👉 Would you actually play them? Or only experiment?
👉 If you’re building an AI tool, what patterns are you noticing?
Would love to hear your thoughts — even the skeptical ones.
Always great to learn from this community. 🙌

Can I upload my own game?
@jiechen Hi chenjie .You can absolutely upload your own games. By the way, we're about to launch AI-generated games, and you can upload those too once they're generated.
👉 “Hey! We just launched on Product Hunt 🎉 Would love your thoughts and feedback.”
