Hello Product Hunt,
We are Scandy - a small team of dedicated software developers whose passion is bringing 3D content creation to everyone. We all make 2D content with our phones every day because it is easy and fun. Scandy’s mission is to bring that same experience to 3D content to make "3D For Everyone". Why? Because we think 3D is cool, there are going to be more ways to consume 3D content (Virtual Reality headsets, Augmented Reality glasses, and AR experiences on mobile devices), and really we just want to see what people can create in 3D once it is easy.
We understand that scanning with the user-facing camera on a phone can be challenging. This is why we have designed The Lookout to convert the user-facing camera into a world-facing camera to make 3D scanning from your phone even easier. The Lookout is designed to be compatible with iPhone X series device (X, XS, XS Max and XR) or iPad Pro 2018 series and newer.

Hello! I love the idea and I love the fact that you make this a 3-D printable part for people to do on their own. I have two questions hopefully you guys can address. The first is the availability of the pad in the order area. When I click on it it takes me to a blank page that will not display the part to order.
Secondly where do I go for support on a file? For context every time a friend scans her face there is a black band underneath her chin, starting from just after her chin begins to go towards her neck. The problem is I’m trying to make a face mask and there is not enough geography for it to continue. I’m new at photometry and I’m using blender. I’m not sure if there is a way to re-construct that in a post photo setting but when I scan my face it works perfectly so I don’t know, LOL. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post.

I have been using The Lookout since 2 months now and I must say it is very helpful to scan "on the go". I'm a 3D artist into photogrammetry, and The Lookout completely change my way of working. I completely rely on it now to scan elements that I like in the street, museum... (exactly like I would take a photo) and then export the scan on my computer once I'm back home. The very near future of photography will be scanning.
I'm Dimitri Daniloff, Digital artist, big fan of 3D scanning. You can see my work on Instagram.

Thanks @dimitri_daniloff! We love seeing what you do on Instagram with Scandy Pro and the Lookout and we're glad it is fitting your needs.
We've been working on making 3d for everyone at Scandy for over 5 years now. The iPhone X was a pivotal moment for us since it meant that finally millions of people would have a 3D camera in their pocket all the time. It took a couple more years, but we finally got hooked up with the right innovative designers and made The Lookout. Now accurate volumetric based 3D scanning is cheap and easy.
I'll post some videos of me scanning stuff to my twitter + instagram throughout the day for reference. I really hope you enjoy The Lookout as much as I do. Which is a lot. So Enjoy!
