I read this after reading Michael Singer's The Surrender Experiment. It's a different type of book however. Purely spiritual. No anecdotes of Singer's life are in the Untethered Soul.
SUMMARY:
Singer writes about noticing the voice in your head, noticing your emotions, what you're feeling, and what your mind is saying. Ultimately, we're not the voice in our head, we're what notices the voice(s).
While reading this book and since then I fell into a few difficult situations (like everyone does!) Some that made me nervous, sad, happy, etc. But now, I notice that I am in fact angry (full of emotion and/or thought) and that there is a voice talking: "Look at this person, I hate this, I hate that, I love this, what a wonderful day, etc." And once I notice the emotions, or this distance voice talking, I just passively enjoy the moment. The voice stops. The emotions go away or are controlled. I don't cling to them or let them take over my life. I don't feel attached to it, felt hurt by it. I am just neutral and aware.
Ultimately, Singer writes about how to distance yourself from potential emotions and thoughts that can hurt.
Loved it. Definitely a heavier read than the Surrender Experiment but a lot to gain as a result!
Lastly, some of the lessons reminded me of some of the lessons in The Power of No by Claudia A. Altucher and James Altucher. Can't seem to find it on PH. Has it been posted? @jaltucher
As the Surrender Experiment, I first heard of this book on James Altucher's podcast with Michael Singer http://www.jamesaltucher.com/201...
