I don't want to spoil it, but is one of the saddest (+ most beautifully written!) books I've ever read.
Joan Didion's most known for her essays ("Slouching Towards Bethlehem") but The Year of the Magical Thinking spoke to me the most.
Also - Can't wait for the Joan Didion documentary!
Report
@eriktorenberg Completely agree. This was the first book I ever read that dealt with profound grief, while also being my first Didion. It still haunts me a decade later. I found myself thinking about it whenever a loved one passes away, and I recommend it to anyone who is struggling with The Vortex.
