Hi Product Hunt — I’m Mike, the solo maker of Tinta Voice.
I built Tinta because I wanted one focused Mac utility for two jobs: dictate into the app I’m already using, or turn an audio or video file into a local transcript.
What Tinta does today:
• hold a hotkey, speak, release, and put the transcript at the active cursor;
• transcribe audio and video files locally with optional timestamps;
• support 16 languages and automatic language detection;
• work offline after the speech model is installed;
• provide a full 3-day trial without an account or card.
What it deliberately does not do: cloud rewriting, automatic tone changes, speaker identification, or generated meeting summaries. It aims to preserve what you said and keep speech recognition on your Mac. The first transcription after launch may take a few seconds while the local model warms up; later dictations are faster.
Tinta requires Apple Silicon and macOS 14 or later. The launch license is $19.99 once.
I’d especially value feedback on whether you prefer faithful local transcription or automatic AI cleanup — and where the first-run experience feels unclear.
