Why I built TinyKiwi? Glad you asked!
While I worked on other projects, I noticed that many makers in the #BuildInPublic Twitter community share beautiful, eye-catching screenshots of their work. I wanted to do the same!
I've tried several screenshot apps, and while they got the job done, I felt they restricted me to specific layouts & designs. I wanted more control over the end result.
I tried using Figma, but it was a pain to deal with, so I began building my own tool.
I thought it would take me a week to finish the MVP - it took me a month... 😅
But hey, I had a blast building it!
Fast forward almost 6 months - and here we are. 💪

It is THE screenshot tool for indie makers.
Yes, others got a native app. Browser extensions. All-in-one stuff. But do you really need that when you have the awesomeness of TinyKiwi?
No!
If I only wanted to share screenshots, yeah, I'd probably find tools that could do it quicker. But as an indie maker I currently have two ongoing projects with two distinct visual brands. And sometimes I need to go a bit beyond the classic "put a screenshot in the middle, apply a mesh background, round the corners, apply the shadow" thing.
Sometimes I want to highlight a certain area. Combine two screenshots. Add an emoji sticker to make sure people understand it's a joke.
None of the other tools can do ALL THE THINGS I can do with TinyKiwi. I've tried them. I've struggled. I deleted them.
"But Jannis, aren't you a web designer and could just use Figma?"
Absolutely! My daily life evolves around a professional design tool like Figma.
But guess what – it takes me minutes to create a sharable screenshot. Even with presets and templates set up.
With TinyKiwi, I just open the bookmark in my browser, hit CMD+V on my Mac to paste the screenshot, apply my SAVED presets according to the project I am working on, and press Export -> Copy to clipboard.
When I first started paying for TinyKiwi a few months ago, I wanted to see how much time I'd spend on a screenshot. 22 seconds. That's how long it took BEFORE Yossi added all the amazing features TinyKiwi has now (presets, better controls, etc.)
Speaking of Yossi...he literally develops the project with its users in mind and addresses issues that may come up.
He listens carefully to what his customers need and implements what makes sense for the bigger vision of TinyKiwi.
I am happily paying for TinyKiwi – and while I've changed Twitter scheduling tools over the last few months, I've always stuck with TinyKiwi...and will do so for the foreseeable future.
