Hey everyone! I'm Gertjan, the solo developer behind To Us.
I feel like this disclaimer is needed this day and age: I'm not a vibe coder. I'm an iOS developer with close to 15 years experience. Of course AI was used here and there for the boring parts, but every single line of code was carefully judged, and the UI was crafted to perfection.
The idea started with a simple realization: we celebrate birthdays every year, but we miss so many other meaningful moments. The day your daughter turns 5,000 days old. The exact moment you've been with your partner longer than you lived without them. The day your family's combined age hits 100 years.
These moments exist - we just don't know about them.
So I built To Us. You add the people in your life, define how they're related, and the app calculates thousands of unique milestones automatically. Each one is classified by rarity - from Common (yearly birthdays) all the way to Legendary (once-in-a-lifetime moments). The rarer the milestone, the more spectacular it looks when you open it.
A few things I'm proud of:
- Just a one-time purchase. No subscription. The free version lets you try it with 3 people and a handful of milestones. The full version unlocks everything for a single payment. A subscription didn't feel right for this kind of app.
- All data stays on your device. No account needed. No data leaves your phone.
- The way the app looks and feels.
I built this because I wanted to find out if I can come up with more reasons to celebrate. I hope it does the same for you.
