This sounds really interesting! The auto-response message might come across a little rude though. But the world would definitely be a better place if we all write <350 character emails.
I hope this doesn't come out the wrong way but people really need to learn to be succinct in their emails. I receive 100-300 new emails a day and have trouble even reading them all. Too often emails are overly verbose and not actionable. I'm tempted to forward this essay by @mattangriffel every time I receive one of these.
Toastio could be useful to include on my blog but people will still directly email so I'm not sure how much it will really help. Excited to play with this once it's live!
I recall a nicely designed solution a while back. I believe the threshold was 500 characters though...
I love succinct email as well the tough part is that adoption will be super tough if it doesn't live within current workflow.
Maybe it should just be an app in Gmail that lives within their tabs at the top.
Very cool, I wrote an article called "How to Write Emails Like a CEO" a few months back that resonated with a lot of people and was republished several times. In it I suggest pretending your emails can be no longer than a tweet. With that said I'm pumped to see a product like this!
I really like the idea.
Actually, we were discussing something like this about a month ago on twitter, with friends, @jringenberg you may find the discussion interesting: https://twitter.com/ebalaskas/st...
And, you may also find http://vsre.info/ (Very Short Reply Expected) interesting too.
@vrypan thanks! you make a good point - this would be most helpful as an email address to make publicly available. I can't imagine it replacing a personal email address, but for a blog or social media profile it could be great.
