Trapital is a newsletter about hip-hop business. Each week, Dan Runcie writes a story about the strategic moves that shape the industry. When most coverage on hip-hop business scratches the surface, Trapital digs deeper to explain the trends behind hip-hop's growing influence in society.

Herb & Olive
Being a Digital PM AND a hip hop artist, Trapital has been a great way to keep up on both sides of the spectrum (business & art). Dan writes thought provoking articles through detailed analysis and research. He's thoughtful in choosing topics, while staying relevant with the times. Keep it up Dan, and thank you.
Pros:Thoughtful articles that fuse art and business within the hip hop community
Cons:Long term, would like to see this grow into a digital publication with more writers
I really enjoy Trapital and I think it's been something I look forward to reading during my commute. It's both entertaining but also helpful to get my mind thinking. While most of it is based on new school hip hop and current events happening, I would love to see more comparisons to earlier days of hip-hop (80s and 90s era) to show both the progression and change in business dynamics. These things are touched on in the fringes but more could be done.
Pros:Timely, interesting connections, thoughtful
Cons:Could even be more succinct and timelier to current events
Makes my day when it arrives
Pros:Smart insights, very readable, well designed, leaves room to extrapolate even if you don’t work at this intersection
Cons:None
Money Over People
Dan's perspective on the collision between hip hop and business is always informative, fun, and enjoyable to read.
Pros:Unique insights/perspective on music/biz.
Cons:Selfishly, I'd love to have even more content.
BizzBuzzer
One of my favorite weekly reads. Trapital is one of the more nuanced looks at the music industry as it evolves (and doesn't) alongside technology and user habits.
TBH, if you are reading reviews on PH... this is probably in your wheelhouse.
Pros:Learn something new each week, genuinely fun to read, great blend of strategy and research
Cons:Sent too infrequently, would love smaller updates more often
IFTTT
It's coverage of hip hop in a way that you won't find many other places. I love those moments when I disagree with the author just as much as I love those moments when I agree. It's thought provoking and I think you'll enjoy it.
Pros:Refreshing takes on the culture. I love when these emails pop into my inbox. Strongly recommend.
Cons:The only downside is not getting more of it.
The newsletter is incredibly well-researched. This writing blows almost all other analysis out of the water
Pros:Really great insight across a wide range of topics within music industry
Cons:Would love to see more topics on R&B (eg: Anita Baker's farewell tour is a fascinating case study) but that's just my old soul self
