But... Am I the only one thinking of 1. how annoying this would be in a real Airport where you often have to weave around running people and their baggage, 2. How this would easily be mistaken as some wildly threatening autonomous bomb by the TSA 3. Unclaimed Baggage concerns?

@calum_webb Also, how someone could up and snatch this under you nose cuz you're strolling with your hands in your pockets.
@natebear I'm not sure... the fright of it in itself would deter me if I were a thief tbh.. Worried it might come out with turrets or a taser and take me to its owner...
@hgottfried@natebear I can just imagine it rolling along struggling to carry an average human sitting uncomfortably at it... Everyone with their luggage pushing past you, bashing you in the face with their handbags and backpacks
I'm going to call it now. This never makes it to any real "production" form. Also $100 says this entire video was made by controlling it with an RC car controller.
The functionality they are claiming here just does not make sense. The video it is obviously being controlled by someone, the path it takes is non predictable. The "hand-wave" spinning gesture is just non-sense. Their indiegogo page is even worse with talk of "gps tag" that looks like a branded low energy bluetooth beacon. "Diagrams" being drawn in obviously what is a stock photo asset.
They don't even show the suitcase open once.
"Fully Autonomous"... I don't buy any of it.

@andrewjmyers "They don't even show the suitcase open once".....Good catch!
There are literally people starving in the world and we're busy making this. FFS. Silicon Valley get your act together.

@robjbye That's a pointless argument. There is almost zero correlation between slow autonomous suitcases and poverty. Just leave the market to kill it if it sucks and its creators will try something different. If feeding the poor was extremely profitable there'd be no poor people, the rest is just supply and demand. ✌️

Of course, why bother?! -- If it is this smart why can't it just check itself in?
In an actual airport these would easily cause mass congestion with people falling over them left, right and center. Good thinking but really needs to be taken to its logical conclusion.
Show me one person that will casually walk through an airport and not be looking over their shoulder ever 5 sec to make sure their motorized (and expensive) suit case didn't get Roomba blocked by travelers that are late for their flight and bumping into people at every turn?
Side note: if you had a "Run people over, I'm making this G.D. flight" mode, where the suitcase runs over people and keeps going no matter what, I would buy this and it would be awesome

In the next version, give it the ability to find the right terminal and lead the way so you won't be running around the airport like a madman with a drone/suitcase in pursuit. Also make it much more sturdy, the baggage handlers on airlines and cruise ships aren't very gentle when it comes to luggage.
