While I’m not terribly into parkour / rock climbing / jet skiing / outdoor things / motion, I am always happy to stand on the sidelines and film your amazing adventures from a safe distance.
But the problem is to get that one perfect triple ollie kickflip shot, I end up taking hours of film. And while it was fun at the time, I don’t particularly feel like taking another 3 hours to rewatch and edit my tapes.
That’s where Velapp comes in. Using the pressure sensor on screen, simply press more firmly when something looks more exciting—it’ll get a higher rating on the app. Then when you squeeze down the time only the highly rated shots remain. Instant editing feature—on the go.
Plus, Woz digs it. I’m not above jumping on that bandwagon. :P
@kikischirr We'll have to get you on a snowboard testing out the app. I'm guessing it'll be hard to find snowy mountains around the Bay Area, but you can always take a road trip to Colorado :)
The right app at the right time! I love skiing and taking videos. Checked the app and it's working great. Congrats for the idea and elegant implementation.
@iliescualex There is a massive trend in people filming selfies from the ski slopes (like you and I). However, you never seem to be filming when your friend crashes. I reckon Velapp will help us capture these all important ski & snowboard fails for lots of banter during ApresSki time. :-)
Kudos for executing on what could have been thought to be very tough problem to tackle! Anything that helps to shorten/ease typically effortful tasks has a huge potential to set new standards, imo. Think what Twitter did to blogging - all you needed now was 140 characters! Instagram to photo post-processing. Velapp could do the same for video post-processing. Super excited to give this a try.
@alirtariq excited to get this comment for you. I hadn't made the connection to the success of twitter (and others) simply by reducing friction. Velapp certainly reduces the friction of recording video and editing afterwards 👏
@alirtariq Thank you so much for your feedback - it's been such an exciting journey! We really believe Velapp is a solution to a problem so many people face and this is a step in the right direction to save people time having to edit and quickly uploading the best moments! Please let me know what your first experience is :)
I was waiting for an app like this to make short videos without advanced camera and editing software. I will finally make use of 3D Touch :) Liked the video tutorial!
@konowy Hi Lukasz thank you so much for the feedback! I LOVE the 3D touch now, and i'm glad you can make use of it too now! :)

This is great, just this morning I was thinking/tweeting video editing should be AI powered and we should just stream. I guess your project is making this one step closer to reality and so glad to see it materialize in such a good format.
@ideasrex Hi Irina, I wake up every morning getting one step closer to this dream! What we've developed is the first step towards our much bigger vision. We'll be integrating AI with some super awesome cloud editing too - let's keep in touch :)
Really smart idea and execution - congrats on the launch! It'll be really interesting to see what users start to make with this technology, and the off-line/non-mobile extensions sound really exciting. Cheers!
@omicaustin thanks for the comment. It's new alright - I really cannot think of another app using 3D Touch this way. Imagine a world where we can use this tech to rate online videos as we're watching them 💡
@paul_s_kemp Yes. I was thinking about the market research opportunities as well. You guys have a lot of great work ahead of you. So many applications could benefit from this.

This app looks like it could be useful if you have kids. They rarely pose when you point a camera at them and you usually end up with videos too long and boring. Now, unexpected action can be trimmed down. Interesting! 🙌
@karenquannie Thanks for your comment Karen, great feedback! Awesome that you say this, as when I was testing this with friends and family - the amount to fathers that came up to me and said something along the lines of "The amount of times I'm filming my kids, I only want to keep the best parts - or show my wife the best moments!" so it's lovely to hear similar feedback and that you're on the same wavelength :)
