I have two dogs, and when I took my first dog to our veterinarian, there were multiple times where the veterinarian was spending a lot of time of the consultation on the medical records, rather than the pet! While I understood it's part of their job, I could not believe how much time they were spending on the medical records during a visit rather than being with my dog. David (my cofounder) and I then spent a couple of weeks talking to veterinarians and being with them in the exam rooms as well as the "back office". For those who didn't write medical records in the exam room, the conversation with the pet owner tended to be more natural and friendly. However, this also presented a huge problem, they now had to stay about 2 hours AFTER their shifts, writing or dictating their medical records for the pets they saw during the day. We could not believe this. The veterinarian industry is already under a lot of burnout and stress for the staff. And they are the most important piece! We decided to launch VetRec and help veterinarians focus on the pet while also saving them hours by autogenerating all their medical records. Veterinarians would just need to review, adjust minor details, and be done with the records for a pet! The support, feedback, and most of all, deep appreciation we've seen from veterinarians has been extraordinary. In just 4 months we've gone from processing 0 medical records to more than 3,000. We are just getting started. We have a a lot more on the pipeline and can't wait to keep improving veterinary medicine.
