I get it, some people think that analog recordings to vinyl sounds better. I don't agree, but if people like it then they should have what makes them happy. But when you start with a digital version does carbing it in vinyl make it sound any better? Seems that best it would sound the same. What's the point?
@saf when the track is finally ready to prep for pressing, the track used is replaced with a vinyl-ready audio master (provided by the artist).

I asked this before on Qrates and I'll ask again. There aren't enough pressing plants right now to handle all the production requests, especially because of RSD and Urban Outfitters. who are you going to use and how long is it going to take me to get 500 7" made? 8, 9 months? It's cut throat out there.
Hi product hunt! Thrilled to have Vinylize.it on product hunt. Vinylize.it is (currently) for Soundcloud users to create a campaign for soundcloud tracks they want on vinyl. We also have made QRATES (http://qrates.com) which enables artists and labels to start crowdfunding/pre-orders for their vinyl release as well.
We made Vinylize.it so we can prepopulate vinyl demand for tracks before they go live on QRATES. We hope it'll be a fun tool for music fans and a useful tool for artists to discover their most passionate fans.

good idea! you should probably filter out tracks that are too long to be pressed on vinyl though, over 20 minutes or whatever it is.
Great idea! Still not sure what the benefit of Vinyl is other than being edgy and vintage, but my dad always said it vinyl was cool, and SoundCloud has the hipster vinyl crowd.
@johnrmeese I could go on forever to answer that question, but here are a few!
1. (Not to be complete cynic about streaming... but) Artist make real money with vinyl
2. Many love the way vinyl sounds vs digital
3. It's beautiful and tangible :)

Vinylize.it is just a ๐ฅ solution for DJ's and producers!
Making a Vinyl from your track can be a tough decision for an indie artist as long as you're not sure how many people would buy it and it's also kind of expensive.
Vinylize.it is resolving this by letting you A/B test your product/market fit: you'll press vinyls only if you recruit enough people to buy it.
And if you've already made your decision, it takes only 3 steps to create vinyl from almost anything on SoundCloud ๐
Give it a try!

This is straight up the coolest thing I've ever come across. I've been a DJ within the Detroit dance culture for nearly 10 years. For years I've been looking for an easy solution to press mine and my friends' tracks onto Vinyl for X-mas presents and other gifts. This is so damn neat.
