Scaling Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs) to a national election level is definitely the ultimate engineering puzzle in civic tech. The main hurdles usually boil down to:
Client-Side Generation: Generating zk-SNARK or zk-STARK proofs on low-end mobile devices can fry CPU/battery life quickly. Optimization or recursive proving (like Halo2 or Plonky2) is almost a requirement.
