This is awesome - I've been using Message builder from Slack which is great, but this seems to be much better to collect the whole bot conversation.
Is there a way to display ephemeral (vs. regular) messages?
What's the pricing? What about "privacy" around what's being added the tool?
@sivola we're so happy to hear that! Currently we don't have a way to distinguish between them no, but it's a good point that I haven't thought about before, would you just want to create a message that was ephemeral like you would a normal one? :)
Currently there's no pricing, the features that are there now are free :)
In regards to privacy, when you create a bot, the url you get is randomised, however anyone with the url can see, edit and fork that bot.
Let me know if there is anything else, you can also DM me if you'd like!
@dinoshauer I think a check mark for ephemeral would be sufficient: what changes is just formatting and mainly font color - but it's important to have as look and feel is somehow different and might need further customization. This is something that not even Message builder has, so it could be another differentiation for you.
We've seen a lot of bot building tools aimed at helping developers and it's good to finally see the product managers and designers get some love as well. Having worked on our onboarding bot @smoochlabs , this solves well the pain point of communicating vision with engineers and building a bot script that's both visual and shareable with devs. Did I mention we need this for Messenger?
Hey @jmarovt ! Hah, yeah we've heard it once or twice, editing raw JSON gets old really fast, and that's the only thing slack supports with their message builder, it's versatile, yes.
We wanted a place where we could preview, edit and share messages easily, so Walkie was born - now there's no more copy floating around in random places :)

Looks great guys! I'd be interested to hear what else you have on your road map? Will you be working on adding new features or making Walkie work on other platforms?
@sarahgillmartin well sounds like supporting messenger should be one of the next ones! We have been talking about a minor slack integration as well. DM me if you want to know more :)
HELLO PRODUCT HUNT.
We’ve built Walkie because it’s been a real pain to write copy for Slack bots.
At Founders we've built a few slack apps now, and every time we have struggled with copy, going back and forth between Devs who have to implement changes and Copywriters/UX'ers who want a single word in bold because that's how they envisioned the message in the first place.
We've tried storing copy in google docs, with screenshots and links to slacks message builder, even storing them in plaintext in our project management tools!
Walkie is trying to solve this problem by enabling people of all backgrounds to design whole dialogues for Slack, creating messages from the ground up.
Let us know if you have any questions!

Hi @bentossell - Yes, we've definitely been thinking about it! Messenger is an obvious option! Are you thinking of any specifics?

@dinoshauer@bentossell love this, exactly what we were looking for. We were literally doing exctly what you mentioned, google docs, spreadsheets, hacked up photoshop template etc

At risk of sounding childish and I'm not sure if I'm the only person to notice this - but, it looks like a condom with a face?
