'What If History' lets you explore alternate timelines for any moment in history! Just ask a “What If” question and the app generates a structured alternate timeline showing immediate impact, long-term effects, and global consequences. Built as a lightweight web app and PWA, it works instantly with no signup and supports English, Hindi, and Hinglish inputs for a global audience. Ask questions like: • What if Product Hunt never existed? • What if The Epstein File never happened?

Super interesting! How did you get the idea for the product?
@tudor_moldovanu Thanks Tudor!
The idea came from a personal curiosity I’ve always had about alternate history scenarios. I often find myself wondering and talking to friends how different the world might look if certain events had unfolded differently.
Questions like “What if the internet never existed?” or “What if @Product Hunt was never launched?” kept coming to mind, so I thought it would be interesting to build a simple tool that lets anyone explore those kinds of timelines instantly.
Oh this is really nice! Congrats on the product and the idea 🤩
I'm a curious fellow, so I frequently find myself asking these types of "What if" questions - I'll most probably feature this in one of the future editions of my newsletter as well (it's a perfect fit, as the focus is on curiosity haha)
@ruxandra_mazilu Thank you so much Ruxandra, that really means a lot!
Curiosity-driven questions are exactly what inspired the project. I’ve always enjoyed those “what if” discussions, and I wanted to make something where people could explore them quickly and see how events might ripple through history.
If you ever feature it in your newsletter, I’d be honored. And I’d love to hear what kinds of “what if” scenarios your readers come up with as well!
A recent one I explored was:
“What if AI replaced most entry-level jobs by 2030?”
The result on education, careers, and global economies were fascinating to explore.

If you get a chance to try it, I’d love to know what “What If” scenario you experiment with.

@irazasyed Thank you Irfaq! Really appreciate it 🔥
If you get a chance to try it, I’d love to know what “What If” scenario you explore first. (:
for a history buff like me this is going to be a go to place to read about history and understand it in a faster way
@arbab_usmani Thanks Arbab, that’s great to hear!
History is full of fascinating turning points, and the idea was to make exploring those “what if” possibilities quick and fun. If you try it out, I’d be curious to know which historical scenario you experiment with first.
