ZuZu transforms bedtime into magical journeys with educational tales and soothing soundscapes. It offers experiences to stimulate young minds, promotes peaceful sleep and accelerates learning through storytelling.
Hi Product Hunters! 🚀
I'm Matt and together with my partners-in-creativity, Alex and Joffrey, we're ecstatic to introduce ZuZu to you all. This isn't just an app; it's our passion project, born from nights of storytelling and a deep desire to harness the transformative power of stories. 🌟
In an era where screens dominate, ZuZu offers a sanctuary. Our app leverages the magic of storytelling to boost neuroplasticity, fostering learning and growth in young minds. We're on a mission to reclaim bedtime, turning it from passive screen time to active dream time, where every story enriches rather than sells your child's attention to the highest bidder.
ZuZu's Core Features:
⚡ Quick Stories: Instant tales crafted in seconds for eager imaginations.
🎨 Customizable Stories: Tailor plots and characters for stories that resonate and delight.
📚 Ongoing Tales: Dive into serialized adventures that extend the magic over multiple nights.
🌙 Sleepy Sounds: Calming sounds designed to lull your little one into a peaceful slumber, enhancing bedtime.
Why stories, you ask? Because stories have the power to shape our brains, our values, and our futures. Unlike short-lived videos on platforms like YouTube, where attention is traded for ads, ZuZu's stories create magical worlds and characters. It's a place for learning, family time, and soft lessons, free from big companies watching.
ZuZu is our invitation to you: to choose quality over quantity, enrichment over entertainment, and active learning over passive consumption. It's perfect for parents who dream of a world where their children's bedtime is a journey into imagination, not into advertisement.
Join us on this adventure. Download ZuZu now and step into a realm where every night is a new chapter in your child's story of growth. Let's bring the magic back to bedtime, together. ✨
Thank you for being part of this story. We can't wait to hear your thoughts and welcome your feedback with open arms. ❤️

Isn’t screen time before bed bad for children? Can the app not be operable in audiobook immersive format instead?
@prashant_singh_chauhan absolutely, and that's precisely what we aim to address with our app. We're well aware of the concerns regarding screen time before bed and its potential impact on children's sleep quality. Our app is designed with this in mind, offering a solution that provides the benefits of bedtime stories without the need for direct screen interaction by the children.
Parents have the flexibility to choose new stories every day to read to their children, fostering a bonding experience and nurturing a love for stories. For those times when parents might be busy or need a little break, we've incorporated a feature where an AI voice can take over the reading. This ensures that children can still enjoy their bedtime stories without being exposed to screen time.
The essence of our app is to enhance the bedtime story experience in a way that's both convenient and mindful of the health and well-being of children. The stories are designed to be immersive and engaging, sparking children's imaginations and encouraging a love for reading and storytelling, all while keeping them away from screens before bedtime. We're constantly looking to improve and refine this experience, and feedback from users like you is invaluable in this process. Thank you for your insightful question!

@matthias_pieringer will it be correct to say that the app is focused on audiobook style rather than a one to one child visual interaction with the device. Also, in case of parent being not there the child is supposed to operate that on his/her own. Why don’t we incorporate the content onto something like an alexa device which get rid of all the device interaction needed for the child?
@prashant_singh_chauhan
You're absolutely right. Our app is indeed more focused on delivering an audiobook-style experience rather than direct visual interaction with a device. This approach aligns with our goal of minimizing screen time for children, especially before bed. It's up to the parents to decide whether they want to read the stories to their children or use the app's functionality to have the story read out loud.
Additionally, we understand the importance of versatility and convenience in how our stories are accessed. That's why we've made it possible for the app's audio to be played through Bluetooth speakers or even smart home devices like Alexa. This allows for a seamless storytelling experience that doesn't require children to interact directly with a screen or device, providing a more accessible and flexible way for children to enjoy our stories, whether parents are present or not. Your insight is spot-on, and we're committed to enhancing and adapting our app to fit the needs and preferences of our users.
I heard children coloring books would also be pretty cool. I think it may be too much of an add on for the app tho. I honestly don’t know. Anyways though, Congrats on the launch!!
@benjamin_sloutsky
Thank you for the congratulations and for bringing up the idea of a children's coloring book feature. While we love the creativity behind coloring books and their potential for fostering imagination, our primary aim with Zuzu is to reduce screen time for children. Introducing a coloring book feature directly within the app might be counterproductive to that goal, encouraging more screen interaction rather than less. However, we're always exploring innovative ways to engage children's creativity and learning without increasing their screen time. We appreciate your input and support, and we're thrilled you're excited about Zuzu's launch!

Your encouragement means the world to us as we celebrate our launch. 🚀 If you have any suggestions, stories, or themes you'd like to see in future updates, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're always looking for ways to improve and expand our offerings. Thanks again for your kind words and support!

Hey guys! i've downloaded your app. I really liked it. I like the UX Design and the quality of stories. Love to hear from you.
This sounds amazing! I'll definitely be giving this a try. I love telling my kids stories but also...at a certain point I'm just ready to not make up stories about firefighters jumping on the trampoline anymore 😂
What service did you use for the voices? I've been using Wondercraft for meditations and it's been solid so far but I'm always curious about this space.
@bradydowling
That's fantastic to hear you're excited to give our app a try! And we totally get the part about needing a break from endless storytelling creativity—firefighters on trampolines sure sounds like a hit, though!
We used Google Text-to-Speech (TTS), but we refined our narrations by incorporating Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML), allowing us to adjust pitch and speed based on punctuation for more natural storytelling.
In the next version, we're taking a leap forward by introducing a unique approach by leveraging Tortoise model. This is a self-crafted voice solution where we blend two key elements: the Tortoise voice model (open source code), and real voice inputs. By meticulously working with and adjusting all possible variables (temperature, how to break/split the text to feed the model, punctuation changes, graphic card changes, etc...), we tailor the final voice to meet our specific requirements, ensuring a more authentic and engaging storytelling experience.
