Why are we still uploading sensitive files in 2026?
Genuine question for the community 👇 Most online tools still require uploading files to remote servers even for simple tasks like compressing a PDF or converting an image. Modern browsers are powerful enough to handle this locally. So why hasn’t the default shifted yet? Is it: • Legacy architecture? • Business model incentives? • User convenience? Would love to hear how you think about this.

Every time we needed to compress a PDF, convert an image, or unlock a document… we had to upload it somewhere. Contracts. Financial files. ID scans.
