What's the best way to start charging a client who expects free post delivery edits?

It s easy to get trapped into doing free work when small client requests trickle in after a project is done. The real pain is trying to reset boundaries with someone who is already used to getting small tweaks for free.

If you've been in this spot how did you bring up billing for extra work without making it awkward?

Did batching requests work better for you or did you just start billing an hourly rate for every single small change?

Do you try to fix your weak points or just outsource them?

I wasted months trying to force myself to learn complex financial modeling and detailed project management tools just because I felt I "should" be good at them. I barely got any better but it drained all my creative energy for product building.

Eventually I realized it's way smarter to just hit a basic "good enough" level on your weak spots or bring in a freelancer/cofounder to handle them so you can spend 90% of your time on the stuff you're naturally awesome at.

How do you handle the parts of running a project that you're just plain bad at?

Have you ever turned off daily digest emails to actually reduce churn?

We thought sending daily status emails and automated triggers would keep our app top-of-mind for users. Instead, a bunch of people told us in their exit surveys that the constant inbox noise was the exact reason they unsubscribed. They actually liked the tool but they hated feeling spammed every single morning. We switched everything to a single weekly summary and let users opt into alerts only when something critical breaks.

Have you audited your automated emails recently to see if they're actually helping or just driving people away?
