About

I'm Jacob Alicea, a solo indie developer building Artifex, an Early Access Windows AI workspace. I work with AI coding assistance and focus on editable memory, project tools, and making an assistant's actions easier to inspect. Interested in local AI, game development, and practical creative workflows. I'm here to learn from other makers and improve Artifex through real user feedback.

Artifex 0.5.40: a real game-building demo, window screenshots and vision fixes

Watch the full demo on YouTube: Artifex builds a text adventure real AI workflow

Hi everyone Jacob Eli Alicea here, the maker of Artifex.

Artifex 0.5.40 is available for Windows, with a new real-session demo. Watch Artifex and Gemini build Lanternfall, a Python text adventure, correct a launch error, run three generated tests and bring a screenshot of the game window back into chat.

Download the free captioned demo video and read the combined release notes. The full MP4 is attached to that post. It is silent and edited for time; the task limit and follow-up correction are shown.

Artifex 0.5.22: easier AI setup and clearer file approvals

Hi everyone Jacob here, the maker of Artifex (pronounced Arty-fex).

Artifex is a Windows workspace that connects your chosen AI model to project files, editable memory and practical tools. I ve just shipped 0.5.22 on itch, with updated full and demo installers.

This update focuses on getting started and understanding what an AI action will change:

First-task guide: setup help and a small file-writing example. Preparing the example creates a draft in a new chat; it doesn t send a request or spend credits.

Hi, I'm Jacob — building Artifex, a Windows AI workspace

Hi everyone, I'm Jacob Alicea, an independent creator working on Artifex, an Early Access AI workspace for Windows. I'm building it with AI coding assistance.

I want a place where conversations, project files, and the things an assistant remembers stay connected and where I can inspect and correct that memory. Artifex lets users choose local Ollama models or a supported API and work with project and browser tools.

One lesson from developing it: an AI saying 'done' isn't the same as a task being verified. I've been putting more work into action logs, file checks, checkpoints, and clearer limits so users can see what actually happened. There's still plenty to improve, especially setup and consistency across models.

I've prepared the Product Hunt launch, which includes a walkthrough and a link to the free demo: https://www.producthunt.com/prod...
