What's great
The biggest strength of LumiChats is its pricing. Offering access to 40+ models at such an attractive price point well under a dollar makes it extremely affordable, especially for students. It genuinely feels like the founders built this from a student’s perspective. Despite the low price, the quality is impressive: the models perform well, the agentic features are useful, and the overall experience works smoothly and reliably.
What needs improvement
One thing that could make LumiChats even better is investing in larger and more advanced in-house models. Right now, there are many fine-tuned models available, which is great, but if the company grows and gets more funding, it would be exciting to see them build their own flagship models instead of only fine-tuning existing ones.
vs Alternatives
Before LumiChats, I was using Perplexity, but I switched because LumiChats gives me access to many more models and websites in one place. I also like that they have their own fine-tuned models that I can run on my own system. For anyone interested in building software or experimenting with AI tools, LumiChats feels like a complete package compared to alternative solutions.
