About

I believe in the possibility of a World where we as citizens live in harmony with the natural world that supports us and treat with respect other sentiment beings. A world that balances the social needs of all citizens with the absolute necessity for us collectively to live within the Planetary Boundaries. This is not the World we live in today and I wish to make a positive contribution professionally and personally to change it. I believe that this a personal and individual responsibility we all have to wrestle with.

AI raised commits 240% and releases 30%. The gap is the only number that should change your Q4 plan.

A new NBER paper tracks 500,000+ GitHub developers against their actual AI telemetry. The task-level gains are enormous and they mostly don't survive the trip to a shipped release. Across four app marketplaces: a sharp rise in new apps, no rise in total usage.

Most of the AI-productivity argument you've read this year is two camps shouting single numbers at each other. There's a paper out that makes both camps right and is more useful than either, and the revised version went up this month, so it's worth twenty minutes before you write your Q4 plan.

Does anyone else judge a product by how it treats free users?

I pay a lot of attention to how a product handles me before I ever hand over a credit card. How generous is the free tier? Is the onboarding smooth, or does it make you feel like a nuisance for not upgrading immediately?

Some apps treat free accounts like a favor they are reluctantly doing for you, while others just let you use the tool and trust that you will pay if it provides value. I have walked away from solid apps simply because the free experience felt pushy, and I have stuck with limited tools just because they were respectful of my time.

Does the attitude of a free tier actually impact your choice, or do you only care about what a product offers after you pay?

US founders vs rest of the founders

US founders have real structural advantages we do not talk about enough. Ivy League is not magic; it is a pre-built network, so a cold intro becomes a warm one. Flying to SF for a weekend and landing at the right dinner is a low-friction move for them and a logistics project for the rest of us. Stripe/PayPal restrictions are serious enough that Stripe Atlas exists just to route around them.

But that mostly buys fundraising and visibility. It does not buy product-market fit.
