Do you trust upvotes when picking a new tool to try?

I discover a lot of tools through Product Hunt, and the upvote count is usually the first thing I look at. But it doesn t always match how useful a tool turns out to be for me.

Last month I signed up for a #1 product of the day because of its huge upvote count. I used it twice and forgot about it. A few weeks earlier I had tried a small launch with barely 50 upvotes, a simple tool for organizing browser tabs, and I still use it every single day.

It made me wonder if I give upvotes too much weight. Maybe the comments and the maker s replies say more about quality than the ranking does.

When you decide what to try, what do you look at first: upvotes, comments, the demo, or something else? Has a low-ranked launch ever surprised you?

Agent teams that can be opened and examined: does this affect your trust in them?

The newsletter on Monday highlighted a launch that centered on agent teams that could be opened up to find out where things had gone wrong. This sentence has stayed with me all week.

Most of the demonstrations with agents focus on the final output. But the part that interests me is the failures. If an agent chain produces a wrong answer, then I have no clue where along the way something has gone wrong: was it during the retrieval, the function call, or an incorrect assumption made three hops back?

We hit #1 yesterday, here’s what actually made the difference

Articos MCP launched yesterday and ended the day at #1. 327 upvotes and a wall of thoughtful comments.
For a bootstrapped team, that caught us off guard, especially in a field this strong. We launched the same day as some great teams, @opencode , @Fina @Kai, and the folks behind them, @thdxr, @clay_raterman, @jim_hartung. Good day for all of us

Big thanks to @chrismessina for hunting us again. The pre-launch calls shaped the whole thing, the story, the flow, the maker comment. Chris pushed us to lead with the actual value instead of just it s an MCP now, and that reframe is a big reason yesterday worked.
