About

Artificial intelligence is one of the most transformative technologies of our lifetimes, yet most people writing about AI are either trying to sell you something or scare you. I'm not interested in either. I just want to help regular people understand what's actually happening - and what it means for their lives. My goal is simple: become the person who makes complicated tech feel human and approachable. I want to be that trusted neighbor you turn to when you have a question about tech. I want to be the expert news programs call when they need someone to explain AI without all the jargon or hyperbole.

Vitals now shows the Neural Engine and lets you customize how it looks 🎨

Every Mac with Apple Silicon has a Neural Engine. More apps use it every month for dictation, transcription, and other AI that runs on the Mac.

Activity Monitor doesn't show it. I had no way to see how busy it was or which app was using it.

Best Activity Monitor Alternative for Mac: Vitals Is Live on Product Hunt 🎉

Vitals is live on Product Hunt today. It's an Activity Monitor alternative for Mac that shows you 60 apps instead of 1,000 processes, and in its first week, close to 830 licenses have sold. This is the story of why I built it, how it works, and why I think it's the best way to see what your Mac is actually doing.

Changelog Updates

Tellie 1.6 is out. Liquid Glass chrome; it remembers which display you put it on (docked or floating); a coaching strip that tells you when a point landed and how much time you have left; and Take Coach, an after-take debrief written on-device (beta). Voice Follow is the same idea it always was: it matches the words you say, so pausing and ad-libbing don't lose your place. Free download, Pro $29 once, 10 days of Pro on every install. https://tellieapp.com/ph
