Is Self-hosting trap for most makers?

I see so many makers spending weekends setting up n8n, OpenClaw, or Postgres on a VPS. They think they're saving money. But your time isn't free. SSL certs expire. Updates break things. Backups fail. One 3 am debugging session and you've lost any "savings." Unless you have compliance reasons, just pay for managed hosting. Am I wrong? Tell me why self-hosting is actually worth it for you.

We haven't launched yet, but already caught ourselves almost adding "one more integration" just because a few early users asked. Stepped back and realised – that's how bloat starts.

What's one tool you wish you had discovered earlier as a maker?

We all have that one tool that quietly changed how we build, ship, or market – something we found way later than we should have. Honestly, never thought about .agent as a TLD until now. But yeah, OpenClaw renaming twice in three days is a wild example. If the community wins it, who actually decides who gets "apple.agent" or "openai.agent"? Curious how you'd prevent squatters.

Okay, I'm impressed. Tried dictating a few test comments, and it caught my pauses and punctuation naturally. One small hiccup, it misheard "webhook" as "we book", but editing was just one click. Still, way faster than typing everything out. Might actually use this for long replies. The leaderboard voting with voice feels gimmicky, but… it works. Nice flex, Wispr Flow.
