Parents, what kind of technology do you let your kids play with?

We ve already talked a few times about how handing a child a tablet isn t always the best solution.

Meanwhile, some countries are starting to ban access to social media for minors (even my country is considering a ban up to age 16).

But there are certain technologies that can actually develop a child s talent and imagination through play.

Apple Cracks Down on ‘Vibe Coding’ Apps

Apple is reportedly pushing back on AI vibe coding apps like @Replit and @Vibecode App, tools that let users create apps just by typing prompts.

The issue isn t a new rule. Apple is enforcing an old one:

  • Apps must be self-contained

  • They can t download or run new code that changes functionality after review

What are your favorite "fun" apps?

Yesterday @fmerian recommended Googly Eyes from @Sindre Sorhus, which I immediately downloaded! After enjoying the eyes following my cursor around for the day, that got me thinking - what other fun, goofy apps do you all have for your Mac, Chrome, or other devices that don't necessarily serve a purpose other than to bring joy and break the monotony? @Scroll Buddy is another one that comes to mind that I have saved in a collection.

We see productivity apps, AI-based software, open-source products, etc. all the time, but what about your saved products someone made after their 9-5 or on a weekend just to have fun and test their skills?

What kind of products are totally overdone?

Maybe it is only me, but I see certain categories of online products that seem to be like "copy-paste" and the market is overcrowded by them. (and they repeats in the PH charts too often as well)

They are especially these:

  • AI writing tools

  • social media apps (I do not think that something breath-taking can be developed there)

  • productivity apps (trackers)

  • fitness apps

What kind of apps would earn you more money?

I see a lot of tech products on Product Hunt that are meant to improve someone else's business situation, and as many makers as possible are ideally targeting the B2B market.

However, this past week I've also seen a lot of "fun" products that not only made it into the featured category but also earned one of the product of the day titles.

AI App Store – A better way to discover AI tools (without the chaos)

Hi all! I m working on an idea that came out of my own frustration:

There are SO many AI tools right now for writing, meetings, code, design, finance but it s getting overwhelming.

Even though I m deep in the AI world, I still find myself Googling things like: Best AI tools for solo founders ; Free AI video editing apps ; Is this tool even legit?

So here s the vision:

I built Queatis to help parents save time and raise healthier kids

Hey everyone!

I'm Julia, a founder with a background in economics (PhD), over 10 years in fintech and IT, and a deep belief that technology can make everyday life a little easier especially for families.

A few years ago, I moved to Argentina with my daughter, and like many working parents, I found myself caught between too many responsibilities and too little time especially when it came to something as simple and important as school lunches.

Apps that push you to create?

Last week, I downloaded and purchased @AgBr after seeing it on the homepage. Its design and super specific goal just immediately clicked with me. I love black & white photography, and this was a really interesting and approachable way to experiment with it; even though I've never been much of a photographer myself. I'm usually just appreciating others' photos.

But then, over this past weekend, I noticed that I kept feeling compelled to take pictures throughout my day so that I could play around with different filters and try out different levels of film grain on them. Having the tools to create was suddenly making me look for more and more opportunities to use them.

How Can AI Help People with ADHD? Any Recommended Apps or Tools?
I saw Shimmer on the leaderboard today and wondered if AI can be used to help people with ADHD or similar neurodivergent traits. Here's the link to Shimmer launch in case you haven't seen it yet. Managing focus, organizing tasks, remembering important things, and balancing productivity with self-care can sometimes feel overwhelming. Tools like Shimmer are definitely helpful. Have you also come across any specific AI-powered apps or tools designed to assist with ADHD? I d love to hear your experiences or recommendations in the comments! :)

If PH had a App Wish List (apps you wish someone would build) what would you put on the list?
I love browsing the upcoming launch list. But whenever I do it makes me think of all the apps I would love somebody to build. These are things that I am not capable of building or don't have the time, but need for my business. For example, there are lots of AI bots being launched trained on website data but I wish there was one where I could BYO my own API key and had a low price to cater to small and medium blogs. That's just one idea of many swerling in my head. What are your ideas...? And is the idea of a wishlist that developers could look at and get inspiration from on Product Hunt a good feature wish itself?
