Explore your superpowers and gaps

Ever feel like there’s a disconnect between you and your work, or your team?

Care founder, Dima Khan, can relate. “I was a McKinsey consultant a few years ago: I worked long hours, and had lots of promotions but felt like it was not what I should do.”

Before you go and quiet quit, another option is to find out what’s going on with you. Personality assessments are sometimes used in hiring to measure your qualities against a job description. The Hogan Assessment is one. It measures a person’s personality for business, scientifically.

A better personality test? Khan and the team at Care were inspired to create a better, science-based test to help individual performers and team leads understand their soft skills and weak spots. The Care Personality Assessment also helps teams understand collective strengths and weaknesses.

While Care's personality test can be used for hiring, Khan notes that it isn’t meant to be used as a means to exclude candidates. The goal is to help teams compensate where they find “dark” spots. “Personality is not a filter but rather a way to see how you can work with any person better.”

Give me more tests! If you’re looking for a personality test that may help you more generally with insights into yourself and your relationships, Dimensional also launched earlier this year with a suite of assessments in a mobile app.

New to tech? You might feel (or learn) that you need some help overcoming those weak spots. Merit offers tech mentorship to those who don’t yet have a large network. It connects first-year tech workers with mentors to grow their careers.
