Reverse-engineer Cursor's launches

Cursor launched five times on Product Hunt in 2025, hitting the top-5 for the day each time. While it certainly helps that Cursor is a beloved product, weāve got a lot of those on Product Hunt. How exactly does Cursor do it?Ā
Fmerian investigated and found five factors behind their successful launches. Now, weāre not guaranteeing that youāll shoot to the top of the rankings, but we do think itās worth studying success.
We let AI drive our product roadmap (and it 10xād our activation rate)
By Max Musing, founder of Basedash
āWeāve been growing really fast (30%+ MoM ARR) at @Basedash since launching last year. Most of that growth has been the result of hard work, but weāve also had a secret weapon: an AI agent that acts as both a data analyst and a PM, working 24/7 to optimize our productās activation and conversion rates.
āFor decades, companies have been making product decisions based on intuition and manual data analysis. We wanted to see what would happen if AI could take the wheel completely.
āWe originally built this AI agent as an internal project last June, and since then, itās improved our activation rate by 10x. Yes, thatās accurateāwe went from 5% activation in June to now being over 50% (chart [above] generated in Basedash, of course š).

Cowork, work, work, work, work

Anthropic released Cowork, a desktop agent inside the Claude macOS app. You point it at a folder, and it can sort and rename your downloads, pull data out of screenshots, spin up spreadsheets and docs from notes, and even handle web chores through a Chrome connector when it needs a browser.
TechCrunch said itās a āmore accessible version of Claude Codeā that requires āfar less technical savvy to set up.ā Wired called Claude Cowork āa pleasant surpriseā in a sea of āshitty agents.ā And CNET reminded readers that itās a powerful application that is nonetheless āstill in early access, so be cautiousā with what you use it for.Ā
Product Hunt users already have plenty to say about how they might use this tool ā and how it may just replace their microapps.
