🚀 Major update is live! Thanks everyone for the support so far — today, AirShare gets its biggest upgrade yet. Until now, AirShare has worked only when devices were on the same local network. From today, users can send messages and files globally — even when you're not on the same Wi-Fi! 🌍 ✅ Global end-to-end file transfers ✅ Works across networks, not just local LAN ✅ Improved reliability, encryption & delivery ✅ Faster transfers + cleaner UI This update brings AirShare much closer to the original vision: effortless, private sharing with zero setup. Super excited to hear your feedback and ideas on what to build next! 🙌

@masump Thank You!

@iamcanarin  Huge congrats on the update, this is a massive leap forward. Removing the local-network limitation instantly takes AirShare from a “nice utility” to a genuinely universal sharing tool. Global, encrypted, zero-setup transfers is exactly the kind of magic people expect but rarely get.

The faster transfers + cleaner UI sound great too. Curious: do you have plans for things like temporary inboxes, shared links, or device-to-browser transfers next?

Excited to see where you take this, feels like you’re building the AirDrop alternative we’ve all needed.

@fernando_scharnick Thanks a lot for the kind words – really appreciate it.
The “no account, just open the app and send” philosophy is exactly what I want to keep, so all of this is being designed around that idea.

Right now AirShare is fully desktop-based and accountless by design, but I’m already thinking in the direction you mentioned:

  • Temporary inboxes – the idea is to have short-lived, shareable “dropboxes” identified only by a random code or link (no login, no signup). You’d open an inbox in the app, share the link/code, and anyone could drop files there while it exists.

  • Shareable links – instead of accounts, I’m exploring short-lived, encrypted links that simply spin up a direct session to your running app. The link essentially serves as the session key, so you still don’t need a user account or a permanent identity.

  • Device-to-browser transfers – this is high on the list. The goal is that you can send from the desktop app to any browser using just a link or QR code, again without accounts. Technically, it will use a lightweight relay to connect the browser and your app, but the experience should feel as simple as “scan, accept, download”.

The long-term vision is to stay true to what you’re describing: a universal, encrypted AirDrop-style experience that “just works” across devices, without registration, configuration, or a user profile.

Really glad this direction resonates with you – feedback like this helps a lot in shaping what comes next.

@chilarai Thanks a lot!

Congrats on your launch! How fast can files be transferred, and are there any limits on file size or type when sharing via Airshare?

Jakša Tomović

@sohan_patil Thank you. It depends mostly on your local network speed. There are no limits on file types but in the free version limit is on file size, which is 200MB

Paul Tseluyko

When I was sending a 10gb video file, I dreamt about having a tool like this 😅 Do you have a supporting file limit?

Jakša Tomović

@pasha_tseluyko 😅😅😅😅 free version has a limit of 200Mb, but all file types are allowed. The Pro version is unlimited in everything

Paul Tseluyko

@iamcanarin it's a very SEO-friendly tool to promote, wish you success guys!

This is genuinely cool - the whole 'no cloud, just direct sharing' approach feels refreshing. The global routing upgrade sounds like a game changer for making this actually useful outside your home network. Congrats on the launch!

Jakša Tomović

@alejandroesquivel thank you so much!

Congrats on the launch

AirShare feels like a smooth upgrade for anyone who shares files often. Direct, fast, and no cloud limits that is a strong value prop.

Excited to see how people start using it in real workflows.
