Hey community πŸ‘‹ I'm JΓ©rΓ©my, a French dad living in France with my energetic 2.5-year-old boy who's always exploring (and tasting) everything in sight πŸ˜…. Like so many young parents, we're caught up in the chaos of daily life – rushing through grocery aisles, grabbing baby foods, pouches, and snacks without always scrutinizing the labels for hidden additives, excess sugars, or preservatives. It's easy to overlook in the moment, but with the surge in kids' allergies, intolerances, and sensitivities these days, it started weighing on me heavily. I knew apps like Yuka exist for general scanning, but nothing truly specialized for baby and young kids' products – tailored to their delicate needs, ages up to 10, and even personalized to your child's profile (like allergies, preferences, or dietary restrictions). That's why I built BabyCheck: Scan any barcode in seconds β†’ get instant alerts on risks (additives, sugars, etc.) + a customized analysis with healthier, age-appropriate alternatives that fit your family's vibe. No more generic advice – it's all about making safer, smarter choices easier for busy parents. Born from my own worries and those late-night "what if" moments ❀️ Still evolving, but it's already a game-changer for our meals. Parents and makers: What's your biggest frustration with kids' food labels? Any must-have features for personalization? Huge thanks for the upvotes, shares, and feedback – let's make feeding our little ones less stressful together!

Great idea. I think that in Europe we have sort of strict rules when it comes to food, but definitely good for us as you cannot be 100% sure what everything the food contains. Nice one!

Jeremy

@busmark_w_nikaΒ Thanks Nika ❀️ You're right β€” strict rules in Europe.
But even there, labels don't always tell the full story quickly β€” hidden sugars, cumulative risks for little ones, or how ingredients impact a specific child's age/allergies aren't obvious at a glance. Exactly why i create this app : decoding fastly label and get personnalized analysis regarding your kid specifities...

Thanks for the upvote and your comment!

@jrmydevΒ You are welcome, I used to have obssesive passion for nutrients and exercising, so I am still partially interested in the topic :D

the focus on hidden sugars and additives is crucial, especially with how confusing packaging can be these days. I’m curious about your ingredient criteria. are you leaning on strict EU standards or a custom pediatric framework to flag these risks?

Sylvia

This hits a real parent pain point.

What standards/databases do your risk flags come from? And how often do you update info when brands change formulas across countries?

Jeremy

@sylvia_weng99Β Thanks for your comment ! it's coming from OpenFoodFacts database. Second one is a good question i'm working on

Hi guys,

Does BabyCheck support Chinese / Asian baby foods and ingredients? How comprehensive is your database for non-US / non-EU products?

Jeremy

@xkbearΒ we used a worldwide database including 4 millions product from 150 countries but it could be limited for Chinese / asian product
Do you know any open data reliable for asian product ?

Hello Jeremy, congratulations on your launch. I noticed the text in the visuals are in French. This might make it hard for English-speaking users to understand and could make them think the apps only for French users. Adding English versions could help reach more people.

Jeremy

@enobong_basseyΒ thanks for your feedback
will update those
