Team syncs are recurring meetings that happen with people you often meet with (1:1s excluded as a separate category) — things like stand-ups, project syncs, department meetings, etc. Ad-hoc meetings, by contrast, are non-recurring, non-external meetings — basically all the one-off meetings that pop up with teammates during the course of the week.
