Cognir - A local-first web-app that forces you to think originally.

by
This is not another note-taking app, it does something that no other knowledge management or second brain app has ever done. This is the first serverless web-app that generates a live 3D knowledge map of every thought you have. Exploring the universe within every thought, and changing the role AI plays in thought forever. All in your browser window.

The Founder's Comment: I built Cognir because I realized I was using AI chatbots in the worst way possible: I was asking them to summarize everything. The problem with AI summarization isn't the technology, it’s the model of usage. When we ask an LLM to summarize a complex text, we get something generic, balanced, and devoid of a unique stance. It provides an illusion of understanding. True understanding doesn't come from reading a condensed version of someone else’s words; it comes from forming a perspective. By outsourcing the "synthesis" step to AI, we are effectively burying our own diversity of thought. Cognir is my attempt to fix this. It’s a tool for intentional reading. Instead of generating a summary, Cognir extracts the core concepts and forces you to decide what actually matters. You engage with the text by highlighting and adding your own unique perspective. As you do this, it builds a 3D Zettelkasten (built with Three.js) that acts as a mirror of your thought process. The result isn't a generic AI output, it’s a compilation of the text preserved through your lens. No one else would produce the same map from the same document. The Tech & Privacy: 100% Local-First: Everything runs in your browser. Your documents and thoughts never touch a server. The Stack: Built with React and Three.js for the 3D visualization. The Goal: To accelerate original thought without replacing it. I’m particularly curious about your thoughts on the 3D visualization. Does the spatial relationship between notes help your retention, or do you find 2D "graph views" more effective? I’d love any feedback on the UX or the core philosophy.
