Collabwriting helps you highlight, comment and collaborate directly on web pages and PDFs (now with a Kindle integration too). π
Add your own insights, share what you found in seconds, and never have 20 open tabs and 15 random links in your chat again.
Hi makers! π
Iβm Sandra and Iβm one of the founders of Collabwriting.
We believe proper research drives results and itβs been our mission to help our users get there faster. π’
The whole idea for our product came about when I was managing a content marketing team and was left with nothing else but Google Sheets to try and organize all the research we were doing. π
It was inefficient, hard to collaborate on and we'd regularly just do the research from scratch when we needed the information again.
That's how the initial idea came to be - a simple tool that will help users create highlights, leave notes and collaborate with their team on any webpage.
Collabwriting has grown from there, but we still have work ahead. Your feedback and support have already got us this far and we canβt wait to hear your thoughts once again. ππ
P.S. For more technical details on what is new with Collabwriting 2.0, check out my co-founder's, @ralic, comment β¬οΈ
Instead of just sharing the link with my colleague, for them to just magically find the one important quote or reference, I think Collabwriting can help.
I tried using it now. When I highlighted a line in a medium article and added it to a topic, it saved as a snippet. But when I tried to locate it, it said that it's been deleted.
When I tried it on TechCrunch, it worked fine. When I tried to share it via the link, I was able to copy the link. I kept the setting as anyone with link can view. But when I opened the link in incognito mode I got error page and have to login.
The idea is good. Congrats on the launch :)
@nithincp Thank you for the detailed feedback Nithin! π
Could you share the link you had the issue with?
For me a link set to anyone can view opens even in incognito and we'd love to get to the bottom of the bug you had π
The link I used for testing: https://cowrite.me/v/271d6e91-4f...
It also has a highlight made on Medium that works OK, so that's something we'd also like to check out and see how we can fix.
@sandra_idjoski@nithincp Nithin just jumping in to thank you for your message!
There are some bugs with Medium's new Note feature that don't get along with Collabwriting.
We've created an issue, and we'll be fixing this as soon as possible:

Thank you π

@jaka_koprivec thanks Jaka! π
By the way @sandra_idjoski and I were last week in Ljubljana for a few hours, loved the city. We are already looking for excuses to come back so next time we could grab a drink π
Report
@sandra_idjoski@ralic Of course! Let me know a couple of days before you come and we can grab a drink or something to eat π
@alexwastaken The way you can structure the highlights you create and ease of collaboration.
The biggest reason why standard web highlighters didn't work for me in the past, was that I needed a way to connect my own thoughts and insights with the ones I found online.
When developing Collabwriting, we realized that most other solutions lacked a proper structure for storing all this information and that it was often available only on desktop (often you could only use the extensions locally).
Now of course we have the pdf upload and Kindle integration which take it up a notch too. π
Hey team, wish you good luck with the launch! As someone who started a career as a content writer, l really love the product and its smooth user experience, so I'm constantly recommending it to my team of writers. And the Notion feature is amazing! Thumbs up! ππ
