DESIGN:OS Studio changelog: v0.3 → v0.6.1 in one week
Hi Product Hunt! Jang here, maker of DESIGN:OS Studio, a FREE desktop design app built so AI agents can design alongside you. Six releases shipped between Oct 17 and Oct 23. Short version:
v0.3.0 Paste & Styles (Oct 17)
- Copy a selection in Figma desktop, Cmd+V into Studio: layers land as one undo step, images included.
- Effect and grid styles; editing a style updates every layer that uses it.
- Agent edits through the bundled MCP server no longer replace the open document; one undo step per batch.
v0.4.0 Layout 2.0 (Oct 18)
- Grid auto layout: more than 8 rows/columns, auto placement, on-canvas track editing.
- "Check designs" panel: audits contrast, unbound colours, detached styles and instances, with one-click Fix.
- PDF export with vector shapes and selectable text; lossless WebP.
v0.4.1 patch (Oct 19)
- Grid, auto layout, rendering and .fig read/write fixes found by rendering a large UI kit and comparing against Figma.
v0.5.0 Components (Oct 19)
- Slots: create, edit inside instances without detaching, "Migrate to slot".
- Code export emits slots in React, Tailwind, SwiftUI and Compose; component playground.
- Check designs flags hard-coded numbers that match a variable.
v0.6.0 AI design (Oct 22)
- Agents panel: resumable sessions per file with Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Antigravity and Gemini CLI.
- Review an agent's turn and keep or revert it in one undo step; stop one or all agents.
- MCP tools let agents see the design (screenshots, metadata, design context) and check their own work.
- Variables import/export as Figma JSON and W3C Design Tokens (DTCG).
- License: from v0.6.0 Studio is source-available under PolyForm Shield 1.0.0, free to use and modify, including for paid work. Releases up to v0.5.0 keep MIT OR Apache-2.0.
v0.6.1 patch (Oct 23)
- Agents ask before acting by default.
- Studio asks before dropping unsaved edits.
- Paste text and images from other apps; drop PNG/JPEG/WebP on the canvas.
