Hey everyone 👋 I built DropShare to make file sharing as simple as chatting. Most tools require installation or accounts — I wanted something that just works in a browser. You can: • Send files like chat messages • Access via HTTP / WebDAV / FTP • Share instantly over local network Would love to hear your feedback 🙌

Curious — what’s your biggest pain when sharing files?

Meihai Hu

Can I use this to share files with someone who doesn’t have the app installed?

Alexander Ying

@meihai_hu Yes! That’s actually one of the main ideas behind DropShare 😊

The receiver doesn’t need to install anything — they can just open a browser and start sharing instantly.

I wanted to remove the friction of “please install this app first” and make file sharing feel as simple as sending a message.

@meihai_hu Curious — what kind of files do you usually need to share?

Meihai Hu

@eagle518 I often need to share documents between different devices.

Meihai Hu

@eagle518 Nice, that’s a super common use case.

That’s actually one of the scenarios I built DropShare for — quickly sending documents between devices without needing setup or accounts.

It works especially well when you just want to open a browser and transfer instantly.

Curious — are you usually sharing between phone and laptop, or across different networks?

I would give it a try if it was for iOS devices too, that's the big minus that it doesn't support apple devices

Alexander Ying

@xion3  Totally fair point.

Right now DropShare focuses on Android + browser-based access,

so iOS users can still receive files through the browser without installing anything.

Full iOS support is definitely something I’m exploring,

but I wanted to first make cross-device sharing as simple as possible with minimal setup.
