With Facebook's on-going privacy issues, I'm not filled with much confidence with this product. I am a bit sceptical with tools like Alexa, Google Home etc because their audio is always technically turned on. I do appreciate they are trying to cover this for the camera, but just cannot see myself being comfortable having an item like this in my house.

I'm not sure why people are concerned with FB privacy over companies like Google (Google+ leak and they know way more about you through search). For my kids to be able to interact easily with grandparents overseas this is a perfect device. Agree that its not suited for every household though.

Pros:

Living away from my family, this is great to have a hands free, dedicated big screen

Cons:

Limited to Messenger contacts

I like the product and think it's a winner. Facebook as it is today will not look the same in 5-8 years. Facebook will be replaced by something better that puts people right there with you and I don't feel that with today's FB. They need to go in another direction and it might be gaming with Oculus coming out and now portal. Google just released 3 new products and they running in same race as FB it looks like. Amazon wants to control the cloud and bring AI in to the homes of America then the world. It's interesting with these top 5/6 companies in which direction each is racing to be first and be the leader. Eventually Amazon may let store go cause Jeff wants to go another way and the store makes very little money. The next 5+ years are going to be interesting with these 5/6 Giants especially when world economy tanks in a year or so. Hold on to the bar in front of you and please keep you feet an hands inside the ride at all times. Have fun!

I don't know why one of these companies have a free giveaway at certain locations BUT you have to sign on to a 1/2/3 year contract they'd make more in sub fees alot quicker than selling them to make that money in fact, they could up price a few dollars to where they'd get the retail money back that they losing up front. It would be dispersed over a 2/3/4 year period. Give the consumer a choice of package. Pay up front or 2 year at X pricfe and 3 yr at X price. Of course they'd have to do homework to see if public would be more inclined to get one if that cost was added to monthly subscription price. Might give a leg home to rule the home.

Please devote resources towards solving a real world problem. I would not consider buying this redundancy.

I like the concept, but again, look at the company putting this out. Trust takes years to gain, and only seconds to lose. Most people have FB still only out of necessity, myself included (IE: only way currently to stay "connected" to those from the past, or whom they speak with infrequently or are hundreds / thousands of miles away). It's a shame, but I do not know how they can possibly turn this image around, it's too late. @nivo0o0 nailed it
