Building Flux — a lightweight team chat with extensions
Hey everyone,
I'm building Flux — a lightweight team chat focused on speed and extensibility.
The idea started pretty simply. I’ve been using Slack for years across different teams, and over time it started to feel heavy and overly complex for small teams and startups. Too many features, slow clients, and integrations that often feel bolted on rather than native.
So I started building Flux with a few simple goals:
• fast and minimal team communication
• channels and direct messages without unnecessary complexity
• extensions that can add real functionality inside the chat
The long-term vision is to make Flux not just a chat tool, but a platform where teams can extend their workspace with small apps and integrations that live directly inside conversations.
Right now Flux is still early, and I’m mainly looking for feedback from founders, developers, and small teams that are open to trying new tools.
A few things I’d especially love feedback on:
• what integrations or extensions would be most useful
• what feels unnecessary in modern team chat tools
• what you wish Slack or other tools did differently
If anyone here wants to try Flux or share thoughts, I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks 🙌
