The product works great - apart from I cannot manually change the settings. It is only based on the computer time which isnt always set on where I am (I travel a lot so use different time zones).
It seems like such a simple adaptation to let people choose the gradient of the light coming through whenever they want. Not automated based on the computer clock. So even if I try to change the time I go to bed, it randomly moves into a different setting and blinds me.SO FRUSTRATING.
I love the rest of the product, I just hope this review will get through to someone there to make this small change.

Never ever install this piece of crap. Uninstalling it doesn't clean up the changes it makes to system files which can permanently screw up your comp's colors unless you reformat the whole thing.
After trying to get rid of it, random programs now turn my monitors orange when I start them up. Since reformatting is not an option for me, the only way to fix it is to reinstall the stupid program again. At which point it's basically a virus that you can't get rid of.
There's another common color-change-after-uninstall bug that requires you to keep it installed for 24 hours just to fix the system settings that they screwed with.
So just don't do it. The devs don't seem to actually know what the hell they are doing and are messing with system files they shouldn't touch.
I'm going to repost this warning to reviews of flux every time their incompetence forces me to mess around with it.
I've been using f.lux for a few years already. Thank you, guys, for making a product that takes care of my eyes :)

A very useful app

Compatibility with linux is a big plus. The nightlight feature in Ubunu 18.04 has mostly replaced it though. The advantage f.lux had was that you could set the screen temperature, but since there are ways of doing that with nightlight now (although not through the GUI), I don't see the reason that f.lux is any more special than similar software. Still, I do recommend it to friends for ease of use.

Really helpful, I use it on all my computers

best one! but recently it kind of flickers on my screen. I use a surface laptop. but anyway it's much much better than the shitty default warm display mode on your computer. (y)
