Hi all, I am in the process of writing https://deploymentfromscratch.com/, an introductory book to web application deployment. Focus is on understanding fundamentals (Bash, processes, NGINX, backups) rather than the high level tools. It's better to start from the basics and use the big guns only when you understand what's actually happening. Many people forget that there is a sweet spot between Netlify/Heroku and Kubernetes deployments. You can get a $5 virtual private server, write 200 lines of Bash or so and you got yourself a Heroku-like git-push deployment. If your project scales beyond that, fine! Most projects will not outgrow a single VPS so it's better to have a dead simple deployment. Would love feedback for both the landing page and alpha content (I can send you a chapter). Thank you!

Hi everybody - this thread is great! I recently launched an MVP of my new iOS app PhoneTag. PhoneTag is a fun social app that gives you the ability to send disappearing audio messages to friends and family. The app is targeted to anyone looking for a fun and easy way to connect to friends and family without the commitment of a full on conversation or the dead tone of a boring text message.
