Do you reveal your product before launch day?

I’m preparing for a Product Hunt launch, but I haven’t shared the product publicly yet. I’m considering keeping it private until launch day, while using the next two weeks to talk with makers and learn from other launches.
For people who have launched before, did staying quiet help, or did it make the launch harder? What did you share beforehand without revealing the full product?

I haven't launched here yet, so take this as the view from someone in the same spot. My app has been live in the stores for a while without any announcement, and I'm glad it was, because the first real users find the boring problems: a sign in email that lands in spam, a screen that breaks in one language. I'd much rather fix those quietly than in front of a launch day crowd. So I wouldn't keep it private, just unannounced. The two weeks of talking to makers you're planning sounds like the right use of the time though, people here clearly remember who showed up in their threads.
