How would you launch a non-AI product today?
byβ’
Hey folks,
I launched about 20 products on Product Hunt, but in 2026 it's been a bit difficult for me to schedule a new launch.
I've been struggling because the apps creating most hype these days are AI-based, and I have 2 products (Crontap and Saventify) have no AI features whatsoever.
In fact they have 0 AI capabilities.
To be honest, I've been considering to add some AI capabilities just so I can launch on Product Hunt π
That seems a bit silly, since the products have paying customers and work fine without.
How would you launch a non-AI product today?
I'm struggling to find a good angle.
Or perhaps you agree I should add AI features? π
Would appreciate your help, thanks!

Hey Dan. I do not think that AI is necessary to launch something. I have seen many featured products that are not AI and still make it. But I think it would be cool if the team created some non-AI category here! :D

@busmark_w_nikaΒ heeeey Nika it's been a while! Tysm.
What I'm fishing for is, those that do make it, what do they have?
Is it then down to packaging or including a video?
You know everything that's happening on PH π¬, maybe you've spotted some things that they did right.

@dan_mindruΒ I think it is about presenting something "unusual" β e.g. this is not an AI product, but the concept became featured and even ranked #1: :D
honestly the fact that it's not ai IS the angle. everyone's shipping the same chatgpt wrapper rn, a product that just works without trying to be ur copilot stands out hard. lean into it.
'no ai, no bs, just does the thing' is genuinely refreshing in 2026

If you have paying customers, you have already proven the product works. Adding AI just for a PH launch might actually add friction to a clean workflow. I'd lean into the "Built to last, not to hype" narrative. There's plenty of AI noise out there already, a solid, reliable tool that solves a specific problem is actually quite refreshing

@dan_mindru The paying customers without AI is actually the story. Most AI products right now have the opposite problem.
Lead with that. "Built without AI, still works better" is a more interesting launch angle in 2026 than another wrapper.

Argh, I hate the AI hype (I'm actually very fond of LLMs and how they are simplifying many tasks), so I'd rather be happy to see a "No AI Inside" badge on the app, because I have a feeling that the owners of some products just have a feeling that marking their product as having AI features will sky-rocket them. Nonsense :D
