PH asks for feedback: What helps you the most when considering new products to try?

by
Hey everyone 👋 It’s Daniel here, the newest member of Product Hunt’s product team. As you all know, PH is always on a mission to help people find new and interesting products to use. To take this experience to the next level, we would love to get your opinion on the matter. Currently, there is a lot of information available on the product page, including reviews, alternatives, related products, trending products, comments, badges, makers/hunters, and so on… Which features help you the most when deciding whether a product is worth trying or not? Is there anything else you would like to see us improve (or create) to help you in your product search? Thank you for your feedback, Happy Monday! 😎

1st I look at product description to see if its relevant for me - 2nd I scroll on comments and 3rd I look at how professional/UX-UI quality the product/website looks like 4th Price!

I find transparency very important. The whole process of how the product works and whether it is paid or not.

So often I want to try a product out but it is inaccessible to me or those I would use it with, including family members. Not being able to work out if it is accessible is the number one reason I don't try out new products, it's a lot of effort to register for something you won't be able to use. Also trials which already let you trial the functionality, don't make a 3 day trial for a calendar or disable so many features you can't actually test it and the worst thing is when essential accessibility features like captions or alt text are not in the trial or even cost more. It's not fair at all.

A detailed explanatory video- whether it is illustrative or a human talking- about how the product works, what are the benefits, and how can we use it.

Word of mouth is the most powerful without a doubt, making finding a hunter more streamlined could be an interesting feature since it seems to be one way traction can be had, maybe a hunter "match" feature? Welcome Daniel! Hope the onboarding has been as frictionless as one could hope for
