Settle this debate: should new forum posts get an automatic upvote from the OP?

byβ€’

Have you noticed that when you post to the forum, your posts have 0 upvotes? Wouldn't it make sense that the OP would want to upvote their own content? Asked another way, why post something that isn't worthy of your own upvote?

I think Reddit auto-upvotes OP's posts and comments. :D

@rohanrecommendsΒ Yes it does, but it also has negative upvotes that makes a lot more sense there.

I admit that I upvote my own posts – not so much for algo but because I am trying to stand behind what I say. (Practising self-encouragement) πŸ˜€

Seeing a fresh post sitting at 0 feels a bit lonely 😿 I think an automatic '1' is the perfect welcome gesture; it’s also a psychological nudge that signals the conversation is open and invites everyone else to join in ✨

I think it doesn't really make nay difference. If someone is putting up a post, it naturally means that they stand by it or they have this opinion. So, an OP vote is not something that drives any extra value to the post. But if for the algo, having 1 instead of a zero makes a difference in listing and standings; then yes, absolutely!
