When your launch gets crickets, how do you cope?

by

We launched a product on Product Hunt today. It didn’t go viral, and that’s okay. We’re treating it as a chance to ask something we all face:

When you ship something and almost nobody seems to care, how do you handle it?

  • How do you keep from going down the rabbit hole? And how do you separate “the product’s not good enough” from “nobody’s seen it yet”?

  • What’s your next move? Keep iterating, try different channels, go find 10 people who actually care, or just take a breath and figure it out later?

If you’ve been there, or you’re there right now, drop a note. Curious how others get through it.

I'm really sorry to hear that but it's not the end of the world. Product hunt is just one of many campaigns in your products marketing. The product will never be "good enough" and enough people will never have seen it. Reviewing how many returning users are returning on a 1/7/14/30d basis is a hard truth. But the next move is always the next most important priority for your real users. If you don't have them, your most urgent ICPs. If you are in the fight, keep throwing punches, keep ducking and diving don't jus tplay defensive otherwise you are going to be pushed down into the corner and knocked out.
