Which cities (in your country) are tech hubs and offer many job or business opportunities?
I remember reading an essay by @rrhoover about how he moved from his native Oregon to San Francisco after university studies, where doors full of networking opportunities opened up for him.
I saw the same thing in my country after graduation. About 80% of my classmates went to the capital, where there are the most opportunities in marketing and tech. (Or they went abroad.)
The differences in places and their opportunities are vast and it depends on where you move (as my friend would say: "It's better to do business in SF than in Ghana.").
Which places do you consider to be the "Mecca" of business opportunities in your country?
I am in a very small country so I can list only 2 for Slovakia:
Bratislava and Košice
[Idea: In the future, we could create something like a map of these places. 😄]

Ghent is becoming a new tech hub in Belgium, lot of startups and communities are being built there. Plus It's really beautiful with gothic vibes

@ali_sahlolbei I am currently having a look at the place and it looks nice. Do you have any tech events there?
@busmark_w_nika Not big ones, but we have a small community wintercircus.be
In Belgium we have supernovafest.eu in Antwerp, which is on of largest events for startups and scale ups.
Also in the capital, Brussels, there are other communities like becentral.org
The good part about is that Belgium is really small and these three cities are 40 minutes away from each other with train.

@ali_sahlolbei I am just thinking whether you know personally some people who would be up for some event in the future to co-organise. 🤔 Do you have any contact with them?
I'm Indonesian, and I don't think there are other cities besides the Capital, Jakarta, Surabaya. Cities here are not that advanced comparing to other countries.

@syahrul_gunawan Have you been thinking about creating an event in collaboration with someone else? Initiatives like these could enrich the places around you.
Hangzhou, China! Got it – the birthplace of DeepSeek, Black Myth: Wukong, and Alibaba. Impressive company to keep!

@supa_l Do these places have any support from the Chinese government to prosper?
@busmark_w_nika Absolutely — while these companies grew primarily through innovation and market success, the government has certainly played a role in fostering a supportive environment for tech development. Initiatives such as infrastructure investment, startup zones, and R&D incentives have made it easier for businesses to scale. It’s less about direct involvement and more about enabling growth — which aligns with the core role of any government: creating conditions where innovation and entrepreneurship can thrive.

@supa_l In this particular case, I am jealous of the Chinese government. In Slovakia, last few years, we can barely see any significant help for founders. It is actually the opposite.
